RESULTS

Sunday March 30th

Race 1: Mick Meekings, Steve Young, Geoff Bunn, Bill Edwards

Race 2: Meekings, Bunn, Darren Phillips, Young, Edwards, Owen Brown

Final: Bunn, Meekings, Phillips, Alan Crofts, Vince Foley, Brown, Edwards

The fun started for the Supastox during practise. When a near  pensioner driver, who had decided he would have a better chance if he lightened his car. Decided to machine the wheel hubs thinner, thus saving weight but unfortunately not leaving enough material to hold together. It was also rumoured that he removed some wheel nuts to save even more weight, the result being he made the first corner but not the second when his wheel beat him to the fence. Better luck next time Cyril (Ansell)

Heat one minus Ansell, had the other oldster who has a bit more sense, (uses all his nuts). Ken Edwards leading but as the race wore on, Edwards tired and Michael Meekings gleefully took up the running. Steve Young came through for second from Geoff Bunn, Bill Edwards fending off Owen Brown for fourth and fifth respectively Vince Foley in the other points position.

Heat two. Young got through to the front after only three laps but Meekings who was certainly on a purple patch was soon with him and passed. Young hung on in second until four from home when Bunn got passed; Darren Phillips put him further down, two from home, B Edwards fifth from Brown.

The final, Bunn got the breaks this time hitting the front with seven gone. Meekings still back in eighth, Meekings continued to pick off the places, passing Alan Crofts for third four from home, only to toss it all away the next time around when he went in to deep and Crofts got back passed. Meekings recovered and claimed back the position when Crofts did the same thing on the next bend. Phillips also taking the chance to get by. With Two laps left B Edwards and Steve Davies exited the pits bend together tangled and spun into the fence ending across the track, the following pack took avoiding action, cars going in all directions and all missed the wrecks with red flags out the result was declared. Bunn with the win from Meekings, Phillips third followed by Crofts, Foley and Brown.

Sunday March 23rd

Race 1: Darren Phillips, Vince Foley, Steve Davies, Roy Potter

Race 2: Phillips, Davies, Foley, Trevor Frost, Geoff Bunn, Steve Young

Final: Phillips, Bunn, Meekings, Frost, Geoff Glenister, Young, Davies

Sunday March 9th.

Vince Foley was top scorer on the day taking first in the final and a first and second in the heats.

Heat one had Foley in the lead from half way round the first lap, benefiting from a generous yellow grid slot, Ken Edwards was the first to challenge him but he soon lost out to Michael Meekings and Alan Crofts, these three then ran together until three laps from home. Steve Davies then moved into contention. Davies quickly disposed of Crofts but took a further two and a half laps before putting Meekings behind him, which left him insufficient time to do anything about Foley.

Result: Foley, Davies, Meekings, Crofts, Geoff Bunn, Geoff Glenister

Heat two Foley again leading from the off but this time Meekings was more determined, hounding Foley into a mistake and slipping by on the fifth lap. Davies was again flying from the rear of the field, moving into third after eight laps but could not dislodge Foley. That’s how they finished, Meekings with the win from Foley and Davies. The other positions going to Geoff Glenister, Crofts, Bill Edwards, Cyril Ansell and Geoff Bunn.

Result: Meekings, Foley, Davies, Glenister, Crofts, B.  Edwards

The Final, Foley wasn’t to be denied this time leading the entire race, Ansell was in contention initially but Davies soon moved up forcing Ansell wide but Davies had no answer to the pace of Foley the two finishing in that order. Bill Edwards moved through for third. Owen Brown at last getting his new machine to run to the finish to finish fourth from Harry Sayell and Ansell.

Result: Foley, Davies, B. Edwards, Brown, Sayell, Ansell, Glenister
